Edwin Moore Farrow's Obituary
Edwin Moore Farrow (Big Ed), 93, went home to meet his LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was born on January 25, 1926 in Dallas, Texas. Ed graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Class of 1943 and went on to Texas A&M University, where he was assigned to A Battery, in the Corps of Cadets. He joined the Air Force in September, 1943 and was assigned to 47th Bomb Group 85th Squadron. He returned to Texas A&M, graduating in 1949 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Minor in Mechanical Engineering. He met the love of his life of 68 years, Eugenia (Genie) Watkins and they married on November 25, 1950. Upon graduation from TAMU Ed went to work for EE Farrow Co. General Contractors, eventually forming his own division, Elm Fork Construction Company, specializing in water/wastewater plants and pipeline projects in Texas and Oklahoma. In 1962 he founded Trinity Equipment, a John Deere Industrial dealership which eventually became John Deere’s number one dealership in sales in North America.A lifelong member of First Baptist Dallas (since 1964), Ed served on the Board of Deacons as well as on the boards of Wycliff Bible Translators, International Linguistics Center, Dallas Baptist University and Irving Bank & Trust (Texas Commerce). He was a member of the Calyx, Terpsichorean and Idlewild Clubs.Life was an adventure to be experienced and shared with others. Greeting each day with joy, Ed’s big smile, contagious laugh and zest for life meant that he never met a stranger as he shared his joy with anyone he met. He impacted countless lives for Christ, his love for others was infectious and his larger than life spirit attracted people into the Kingdom. Anyone who met Ed also undoubtedly knew that in Ed’s world, there was only one school, Texas A&M University, to which he directed innumerable new converts – Gig’em!Ed enjoyed his family time in Colorado at River Orchard Place, especially in the summers, reading by the river with the fragrance of the flowers and apple orchard lingering in the breeze.Ed is preceded in death his mother and father, E.E, and Sadie Farrow; brothers Eugene “Ace” Farrow and William B. Farrow; sister Mary Cole Farrow Long and daughter Beverly Jean Farrow Butler. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eugenia (Genie) Watkins Farrow, daughter Rebecca (Becky) Farrow Massey and husband Tom, son Robert (Bob) Edwin Farrow and wife Alison; grandchildren: William Sterling Butler, Tiffany Jean Butler, Edwin Cabell Massey, Thomas Boone Massey, Rebecca Sara Eugenia Massey, Elizabeth Gardner Farrow, Robert Joseph Farrow, Samuel Brannon Farrow; great grandchildren Gibson Dale Massey and Stetson Boone Massey. The family wishes to offer special thanks to those who so lovingly cared for Ed: Michelle, Sharlene, Carmen and Antonio. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 11:00am at First Baptist Dallas.
