Edwin C. Millsap's Obituary
Edwin Charles Millsap, loving husband and dedicated dad, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 28, 2018. He was born on February 27, 1938 in Oklahoma to Fern and Vester Millsap. He was the youngest of four children who have preceded him in death - Nathy Thompson (Junior), Jim Millsap (Norma) and Freddy Millsap (Pat). He gave his life to the Lord at a young age and lived his years as a dedicated Christian.
Ed graduated from Pauls Valley High School where he met his friend and sweetheart for life, “Jeannie” Jones, and they were married for 61 years. He was a devoted father and a wonderful friend to his adult children. He is survived by his three children – Greg Millsap (Los Angeles), Pam and David Brown (Dallas) and Sherry and JD Prescott (Paradise). He was a big part of his grandchildren’s lives, and “Pepaw” will be dearly missed by Tyler and Lauren Brown (Dallas) and Erica and Brian Wall (Houston) and his four beautiful great-grandchildren, Olivia and Elliot Brown and Reagan and Sawyer Wall. His many nieces and nephews affectionately called him “Uncle Ed” and he brought much laughter and joy to the family gatherings.
He worked as an auto mechanic to put himself through college and graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Physics from East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma. He went to work for the IRS when they were just beginning to computerize their services and went on to work for Texas Instruments and then Applied Data Research/CA in the computer software industry. His career took him (and Jean) all over the world, but their favorite place to vacation was Breckenridge, Colorado with family and friends. Golf finally lured him away from work and into the outdoors with his golfing buddies where he enjoyed many hours of recreation and fellowship during his retirement years.
Ed served as a Deacon at Spring Valley Baptist Church (Dallas), Hyde Park Baptist Church (Austin) and Park Cities Baptist Church (Dallas) and always enjoyed the sweet friendship, travel and even a game of Forty-Two amongst the wonderful relationships built along the way.
The family requests that visiting hours for Edwin Millsap be observed on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service, for family members only, will be held November 1, 2018, at Restland Memorial Park at 11:00 AM in Section O. A memorial service for Mr. Millsap will be on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Park Cities Baptist Church.
