Eileen E. Alford's Obituary
Eileen E. Taylor Alford 71 of Dallas, Texas died July 26, 2017, in Dallas. She was born February 25, 1946, to Cornelius Taylor and Emma Clapp Taylor in Hampton, Virginia. Eileen was a graduate of Hampton Institute (now Hampton University) and the first female to earn a BS Electrical Engineering degree from that institution in 1968. She married Sylvester J. Alford, II on June 20, 1970, in Hampton, Virginia. She worked as an Engineering Supervisor at Xerox Corporation and BAE Systems. She was a faithful member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Xi Omega chapter. She is survived by her spouse, Sylvester, daughter Erika Y. Alford Dooley (Antoine), and sons Sylvester “Joey” Alford, III and Scott Wesley Alford, Lewisville. Also, a brother Cornelius Taylor III (Zelma), a twin sister Erma Y. Taylor Herbin (George), and brother Michael S. Taylor (Kathy). Also, three granddaughters; Lauren, Gabrielle, and Krista. A Memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, TX Friday, August 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. In lieu of usual remembrances (flowers etc.) memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital – 262 Danny Thomas Place – Memphis, TN 38105
