Elaine K. Allen's Obituary
Elaine K. Allen, 85, of Richardson, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2024. She was born in Amarillo, Texas on November 23, 1938 to Theodore Morgan and Mary Baharoglou Morgan, who were both immigrants to the United States from Greece. Elaine did not know much English when she went to first grade but attended public as well as Greek school in her elementary years. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School and continued her education at The University of North Texas where she received English and Journalism degrees. Elaine was always a dedicated and hard-working woman. She began her career in public relations in Dallas and then moved into the chemical and petroleum industry where she strove many years helping to build engineering consultancy businesses in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1990s she worked in the city planning and zoning industry at Masterplan consulting in Dallas. She wrapped up her career at the young age of 80 after working in public education at the Region 10 Education Service Center in Richardson in the 2000s and 2010s.
Elaine met the love of her life, Don C. Allen, in Dallas and the two were married on January 9, 1967, in Hawaii, while he was on leave between two tours in Vietnam. They had two children, Scotland and Troy, and she loved spending time with her family and attending sporting events and concerts together. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson and made so many wonderful friends there. Greek to her core, she also had wonderful friends from the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Dallas. She loved music, art, dogs, Texas Rangers baseball (they won just in time), and finding a good deal shopping. Outside of her family and friends though, her biggest passion was in service. She served as a member of the board for the Dallas Wind Symphony, for the Berkner High School Band where her sons played, and for the Richardson Public Library’s Friends of the Library. Her longest love of service and membership though was with the Park Cities Women of Rotary Club and then the Rotary Club of Park Cities where she participated over much of her adult life by attending weekly meetings, organizing events, and holding many service and leadership positions over the years alongside numerous life-long friends.
Kind and generous while also steadfast and independent, Elaine was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved people effusively and was a consistent giver of thoughtful notes and encouragement. She is survived by her son Scotland Allen and wife Leigh and their children Cooper Allen, Molly Cate Allen, and Chase Allen; son Troy Allen and his son Theo Allen; brother Mike Morgan and his family; and sister Cynthia Batmanis and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial donations be made to: R.C.P.C. Foundation Fund, c/o Rotary Club of Park Cities, 8350 North Central Expressway, Suite 1900, Dallas, TX 75206.
A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate her life at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas in the Abbey Chapel on Saturday, January 27, 2024, with visitation at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm. Graveside service will be private at DFW National Cemetery.
