Elaine was born in Neodesha, KS on May 19, 1937. Her parents, Carl and Jean Hicks lovingly adopted her at a very early age. She grew up in Liberty, MO, attended William Jewell University and married her high school sweetheart Jay Read Obituary
Elaine was such a kind, thoughtful caring woman. When she and Jay would come to Liberty to visit; I always looked forward to seeing them. The kids would know best, but I don't think she ever raised her voice. After Jay's passing, she continued to stay in touch sending greeting cards for every occasion and calling on occasion.
I will miss her. Wished I could attend her service.

I have been friends w/ Elaine and her deceased husband, Jay Lonborg since the 1970’s! Elaine and I shared our Christian faith many times by email and phone calls. Their beautiful family and children, Kris, Kari, and Karla, have my deepest sympathy and love! Elaine has gone to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, and will be missed on earth! I look forward to seeing her again when, I, too, leave this earth. Rest In peace, Elaine! You ran the race and “well done, thou good and faithful servant!” Your life was one to be patterned by and I know my sister in Christ wants others to accept Jesus! Mrs. Elaine opened up her heart and her doors to my husband and I, both Dallas newcomers. We got to know through our church and would have frequent lunch dates together. She was a firm believer in her faith and never passed up an opportunity to share her testimony with others. We will dearly miss her.
