Elbert Earl Yates' Obituary
YATES, ELBERT EARL, 84, adored husband, father and brother, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his sons: Jay Yates, Gregg Yates; daughters: Cindy Stroud and husband Pat Stroud, Gina Yates; sister: Nedra Blankenship; brother: James Yates. He was preceded in death by his wife: Anna Mary Yates for 51 years; mother: Clara Lucy Munn Yates; father: James Lafayette Yates. Earl was born August 10, 1928 in Mertens, Texas. He graduated from high school in Forney, Texas in 1945 and then attended Texas Military College followed by serving in the United States Army until 1954. He married Anna Mary Morris in 1956. Earl and Mary settled in Dallas in 1969 to raise their family. Earl had many passions in which he immersed himself throughout his life. He was an avid dancer, loved to garden and cook. He spent his final days at Churchill Estates in Dallas where he found many new friends among the residents as well as the staff. He was fortunate to find that it was never too late to experience the joy of bringing new people into his life. Earl was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Graveside service and burial to be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, Veteran’s II. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
