Eldon Morton Swope's Obituary
Eldon Morton Swope, 91, passed away on October 25, 2017 in Dallas, TX. Born in Fort Scott Kansas in 1925 to Helen and Mose Swope, Eldon was the oldest of the boys including Don and Gerald and was the 3rd behind Dorothy and Cleo of a large loving family. Eldon was working at an early age and was known to do almost any honest work for money to help the family. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1943 and traveled he world via ship while serving his country to defeat the enemy and help others of the greatest generation to preserve our values and way of life. After the war and service he married Ethel Morgan , they worked and traveled around a bit until settling in Dallas Texas where they adopted a son, and raised their a family enjoying social events, traveling and friends. Ethel passed away in 2005, however Eldon remained a devoted husband and father enjoying his family Mike and Jackie, grandson Michael and his lovely wife Monica, grandson Austin, and of course his brother Gerald, all the cousins and extended family along with a cadre of close friends here in Texas and all over the country.Visitation will be on Monday, October 30 from 6-8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 1 at 12:30 PM at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at the Abbey Mausoleum in Restland Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
