Eleanor Mae DeShong's Obituary
Eleanor Mae DeShong was born September 16, 1913 in Warsaw, NC and passed away October 5, 2015 in Dallas, TX at the age of 102. Her loving husband, Harold DeShong, her daughter, Emma Frances DeShong Schultz, and her parents, Clarence Brogden and Addy Frances Grant, preceded her in death. She is survived by her granddaughter, Rachel Barclift (Dale); half- sister, Penny Frazier (Ollie); niece, Debbie Brogden and her son- in- law, David Schultz. Services will be an intimate family affair. A memorial of flowers may be sent through Rembrandt Florist at Restland or in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Dallas Zoo in Eleanor Mae DeShong’s name. When Eleanor first visited Dallas from North Carolina for her uncle’s birthday party, she had no idea she would be coming back soon to start a family of her own. She was quite the social butterfly; she loved attending the Dallas Symphony concerts, spending the holidays with her family and always owned cats. She managed several dress shops around Dallas, belonged to a book club, and was an avid doll collector. Her family lovingly referred to her as the Mayor of Buckner Terrace due to being one of the first residents in the area. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
