Eleanor Elaine Lagow's Obituary
Eleanor Elaine Lagow, 77, left us unexpectedly August 7, 2024. Born April 30, 1947, in Thomasville, AL, to Boyde and William Funches, Elaine grew up traveling the world following her father’s military assignments. After graduating from nursing school in 1968, Elaine eventually called Temple, TX, home. There she raised her family of two children, Regina and Jonathan, and spent the majority of her nursing career. Elaine was known for her care and compassion and was beloved by her patients and colleagues. After many roles and recognitions, Elaine retired from Scott & White Hospital after 32 years of service. Temple provided her some of her dearest friends and memories. Elaine moved to Dallas, TX, in 2005 when weekend visits proved not to be enough after the birth of her first grandchild. She joined the Baylor Research Institute as a Research Nurse during her final years of health care service. For the last 19 years, her greatest joys and happiness came from her two grandchildren. She adored being their Honey and spending every possible moment with them. Elaine had the capacity to enter a room full of strangers and exit with new friends. Her warm and welcoming presence was magnetic and a great source of comfort to all who knew her. There was no greater friend than Elaine. Her tremendous love of travel, visits to the Symphony, gardening, and time with family provided her immense delight.
She is survived by her daughter Regina (Christian) Frederiksen of Dallas, TX, and son Jonathan (Elizabeth) Lagow of Tomball, TX; grandchildren Savannah Frederiksen and Chaz Frederiksen; sister Beverly deJarnette of Pensacola, FL; brother Fred Funches of Cantonment, FL; sister-in-law Debbie Funches of Warner Robins, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was welcomed home by her parents; her baby brother Bill Funches; brother-in-law Jack deJarnette; and sister-in-law Patsy Funches.
A memorial service for her friends and family will be held in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX, on September 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Like her mother before her, Elaine would want everyone to wear bright colors as this is not a time for sorrow, but one for celebration.
