Eleanor Ruth Spreckelsen's Obituary
Eleanor “Ruthie” Spreckelsen passed away peacefully in her home on August 10, 2015 in Frisco, Texas. She was born on October 29, 1932 in Dallas, Texas. Ruthie was a proud Dallasite, but her family moved to northern California to be part of the war effort during WWII. She spent her youth in Ukiah, California where she met her husband and married. She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. All of her family called her “Ladybug”, the name given to her by her oldest grandchild. Ruthie was a meticulous homemaker, fabulous cook and had a green thumb that could resuscitate any plant. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 56 years, Carl Spreckelsen, her parents Dorothy and JB Smith and grandchildren, Jacob Garrett, Emilie Sophia Spreckelsen and Anna Dutson . Ruthie is survived by her five children: Cindy Walker-Jones (David Pepperdine-deceased), Patricia Garrett (Bruce), Dorothy Warren (David), Shawna Smith (Bruce) and Charlie Spreckelsen (Helene). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, her loving sisters Marguerite “Peggy” Bartolomei (Clarence) and Dorothy “Jane” Berglund (Wayne -deceased), many neices, nephews and sweet friends, grand dogs, and her loving puppy-Annie. Family and friends visitation will be on Sunday afternoon, August 16, 2015 from 4:00-6:00pm at the Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:00am in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
