Eleanor Weigand's Obituary
WEIGAND, Eleanor Macchia was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on April 5, 1925. She passed away on July 22, 2022 at the age of 97. Ellie’s parents immigrated from Foggia, Italy in 1921 through Ellis Island with her eldest sister Helen, and settled in Canonsburg. Ellie was the youngest of four children, Helen, Margaret and Anthony. She moved to San Antonio, Texas where she met her husband of 50 years, Donald J. Weigand, at a dance at the USO.
Ellie had several jobs in her lifetime including working for a custom builder and an employment agency, but the true joy of her work life was the 32 years at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in the Oral Maxillofacial Department in Dallas. She served as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean.
Ellie enjoyed reading, cooking and having her large family gathered around her. Sunday supper was always a time filled with love and laughter. Don and Ellie were devout members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dallas where she served as a member of the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don and is survived by her six children, Donna Monk, Karen Kislingbury, Cindy Reinhardt and husband Greg, Tony Weigand and wife Susanne, Jim Weigand and wife Kelly, John Weigand and wife Kayla. Ellie was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who will miss their Noni.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the Weigand family kindly request you consider a donation to the North Texas Food Bank
