Elizabeth "Bettye" Ann Dance's Obituary
Elizabeth (Bettye) Hennessee Dance, a Dallas resident for 52 years, died on May 5, 2011. She was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1955. She was a school teacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and later at McCullough Middle School in the Park Cities. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother and was active in church and charitable activities. She trusted her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and demonstrated this faith daily. Bettye was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church and had served in the nursery department of Park Cities Baptist Church, where she was previously a member. She served as a member of the PEO Sisterhood, an international philanthropic organization promoting and providing educational opportunities for women, and had served as an office in a local chapter. She served a PTA president of her children’s school. Bettye was a loving friend to many through the years and was dedicated to helping those who became disabled, all the way to the end of their lives. She greatly cherished her relationship with her loving family, and her grandchildren were a special delight to her. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William E. Dance. She is also survived by two sons and their families, Chris Dance, his wife Robin, and sons Ian, Shayler and Kelly, Bill A. Dance, his wife Becky, and her son Tyler; also her sister-in-law, Thelma Ward, and Thelma’s children and grandchildren, and her brother-in-law, Thomas Dance, and his children and grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel at Preston Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093, and a visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
