The Life of Elizabeth Marie Benchot –Elizabeth was born July 17, 1938, to the parents of David and Daisy (Belky) Blouir in Barberton, OH.She peacefully entered into the arms of Our Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 7, 2018.As the youngest of twelve children, she grew up in the small township of Norton, OH. There she met and married her husband, Martin Benchot.Liz is survived by her only living sibling, Hettie Mitchell of Sun City, AZ, her husband Martin, of fifty-seven years; son David Martin Benchot, his wife Laurie and daughter Rebecca Benchot of The Woodlands and Victoria, TX; daughter Deborah Sue Corbet, husband Kevin, and daughters Laura Corbet and Ashley Corbet of Dallas and Carrollton, TX; and son Daniel John Benchot of Dallas, TX; niece Susan Mitchell of Charlotte, NC and nephew Mark Mitchell of Phoenix, AZ; plus a host of nieces and nephews.She was an Air Force wife to Martin in Utah, moved to Dallas in 1965, and proceeded to raise her family.She was very involved in church activities: serving on many boards and special committees at Bethel Lutheran Church in Dallas, TX, serving as president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and others. Liz was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Denison, TX for the last twelve years.She worked as the church secretary for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dallas, TX, and, for the last twenty-three years, was the church secretary for Christ The King Catholic Church in Dallas, TX – a role she was happy to fill. During her time at Christ the King, she touched the lives of everyone she met and brought great joy to the office.Liz had many hobbies ranging from square dancing early on to playing bridge, cross-stitch sewing, puzzle work, ceramics, and a wide range of art collections and interior decoration. She enjoyed watching her Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers as well.Her happiest moments were spent with her granddaughters – following their lives and adventures, spending time with family and friends, and spreading great joy and love everywhere she went.Liz was the strongest of women and impacted all that met her.She will be sorely missed.A public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, 11211 E. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75238; followed by the funeral service at 11:00, with a reception immediately following. A private burial will be held at Restland Memorial.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to The Pancreatic Cancer Society or Bethel Lutheran Memorial in her name.
