Elizabeth "Betty" Louise Freethy's Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Louise Freethy, age 80, passed away in her home on Friday, March 31, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. She will be sincerely missed by her loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
Betty was born Elizabeth Louise Fiorito in 1942 in Bronx, NY to parents Anthony Joseph Fiorito and Elisabeth Doretta Engel. She had 2 Sisters and 4 Brothers. She remained in NY until 1965 when she moved to Fort Worth, TX. Where she met and married her husband, Robert Preston Freethy in 1967. They were married for 43 years. Together they had one Daughter, Lara Marie Yannone in 1969 and one Grand-daughter, Brittany Elizabeth Carrigan in 1992.
She had 4 step-children. Bonnie, Bobby, Jonell and Terry. She had 13 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren. She had 9 nieces and 5 nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, granddaughter, her brother Michael Anthony Fiorito, her step-children, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her grandparents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
She was a dedicated bookkeeper for over 47 years in an independent pharmacy. Her job was extremely important to her and she continued working right up to the end – consulting and training those who were forced to take over her job due to her failing health.
She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, arts and crafts, being a girl scout leader, gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, watching birds and squirrels, reading, working on puzzles with her granddaughter, genealogy, musicals and romance movies. She enjoyed being a grandmother and spending time with family, friends, and her dog honey.
At Betty requested, this is a celebration of her life and not a mourning of her death so please dress to celebrate her. Black not required.
Visitation for Betty Louise Freethy will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A Service will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
