Elizabeth M. Chambers' Obituary
01-04-16 to 08-19-10 Born to Valerie Schoellkopf Moore and G. O. Moore of Dallas, Texas. She attended Hockaday School where she graduated number one in her class, and attended Smith College before marrying her husband of 71 years, James F Chambers, Jr. Betty was a former president of the Dallas Jr. League. She was the first woman to ever sit on the Dallas County Grand Jury and she was the first head of the women’s division of the Community Chest now known as the United Way. She was a devout Christian and taught a Bible class in her home for many years. Betty is pre-deceased by her husband, James F. Chambers, Jr. and her daughter, Valerie Boyer. She is survived by her son, Jim, and his wife Betsy, grand-children Michael Chambers, Linda McCall, Terry Boyer, MaryBeth Nix and ten great-grand-children. A private service for the family will be held Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children of Texas, 2222 Welborn, Dallas, TX 75219
