Elizabeth Louise Douglas' Obituary
Douglas, Elizabeth (Betty) Louise Morgan ~ A long time resident of Dallas, Texas; passed away March 1, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born to Harry C Morgan and Gertrude Dean Morgan on May 27, 1923 in Marysville, California. The family later moved to Oregon where Betty grew up and graduated from North Bend High School. While growing up Betty would help her morther with the responsiblity of feeding the family. Her specific job was to prepare desserts. Her years of practice make her a fabulous baker. So much so that the people she worked with would put in their requests for the famous chocolate birthday cake. Her sons always said she should open her own bakery. After high school Betty found worked in the ship yards in Portland where she met Paul Lamont Douglas at a bus stop, she was headed home and he was going back to boot camp. They fell in love and were married February 27, 1943 in McMinnville, Oregon and later settled in Dallas, Texas. She also served with the US Army from December of 1944 to June of 1945 with the 1866th Service Unit at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Later she went to business school and began her career working for car dealerships beginning with Ben Griffin Motors then moved to Friendly Chevrolet, Chuck Hutton Dodge and lastly, Eagle Lincoln Mercury where she retired. Bored with doing nothing at home she went back to Eagles and worked part time. She loved the work and the people there. Mother was truly a people person. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, sister, Shirley Miller and brothers Ivan, William (Bill), Ralph and John (Ray). She is survived by her two sons; Gordon Ray Douglas and wife Lynn, Gary Morgan Douglas and wife Charo; grandchildren, Dawn Douglas Warshaw, Erik Douglas, Samantha Douglas Niles, Jennifer Douglas Balden, Moses Douglas, Elizabeth Douglas Sellers, Adam Douglas, Solomon and Zackery Douglas; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kiersten Belcher, Cody Niles, Isaac Balden, Caitlyn and John Noah Sellers.
