At the Center for Naval Analyses in Arlington, Virginia, Ruth Kolozy was the manager of their Field Office, Liz was her assistant and I was hired as Liz's field clerk in September 1976.
This was the beginning of a great friendship that lasted 45 years
Charles retired from the military in 1982 and the Highbergs moved back to their home state of Texas. Liz and I kept in touch, even flying in for a few visits over the years. Liz was my best friend. I loved her as a sister. She's with Charles now and at peace. I will miss her.

The pleasure of working with Liz will never leave the many memories of Rowan that we all will cherish forever. Liz was so proud of of Ted and they cranked out the work like no other team. Liz was always happy, she would laugh until she cried. Her husband Charles is special. I will never forget his funeral service when an honor guard of Many men in cars, trucks and Harleys showed up to protect the dignity Charles deserved as a faithful public servant to several Presidents of the United States. I will forever cherish the deck of cards. Charles and Liz, I salute you now. Love you, Johnny
