Elizabeth Cheryl Keen, 81, of Balch Springs, Texas, passed away on June 14, 2025. Cheryl was born on August 10, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas to Theodore and Marilyn Royse. Cheryl’s husband of 64 years, Richard, the love of her life, preceded her in death on January 30, 2024. Cheryl is survived by her two children Rick Keen (wife Lisa) and Kimmie Johnson (husband Eugene); her four grandchildren, Kortney House (Jonathan), Brittany Moeck (Ryan), Brooke Stubblefield (Colton) and Kameron Keen; and her six great-grandchildren, Mae, Cooper and Weston Moeck, Ethan House, Rylee and Rhett Stubblefield; as well as several members of her extended family. Cheryl’s family is very close; they’ve learned what love looks like from her.
Cheryl was a secretary for Garland ISD for many years. She and her husband Richard were the owners of Herco Equipment, a hydraulic repair company. Together, through lots of hard work, they grew Herco into a successful business that still thrives today. Cheryl earned her associates degree at Richland College when she was 38 years old (a very proud moment). She enjoyed being a member of Altrusa of Dallas. She also enjoyed book club with her friends. Cheryl played the piano beautifully. She took ballet lessons in her early years.
There are so many words to describe Cheryl. She was beautiful, and that beauty radiated from deep within her soul. She was loving, caring, nurturing, poised, classy, confident, intelligent, fun, creative, encouraging, understanding, feminine, strong, soft, honest, and gracious. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace knowing we are never far away and we will see her again one day. She will remain forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be at Restland in Dallas, TX in the Wildwood Chapel on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 9:30-10:30am. Her funeral service will immediately follow in the same location from 10:30-11:30am. Graveside service is also at Restland at 11:30am.
