Elizabeth C. Martin August 6, 1925 - June 27, 2023
Elizabeth C. Martin, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and faithful member of her community, peacefully passed away on June 27, 2023, at the age of 97.
Elizabeth was born on August 6, 1925, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Edwin Stone Collins and Frankie Collins.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband James, parents Edwin and Frankie Collins, her daughter Darleen Brion, her granddaughter, Elizabeth McWilliams her sister, Edwin Mae Maulding, and her nephews Nick Maulding and Sam Maulding
Elizabeth's memory will forever be cherished by her adoring family. She is survived by her loving children, Ann McWilliams and husband, Gary; James R. Martin Jr. and wife, Victoria; and Mary Martin.
Elizabeth's legacy is further continued through her grandchildren: Michael Hurley and wife, Tami; Christopher S. Hurley and wife, Kate; Steven Hurley and wife, Leslie; Paul McWilliams; Aaron Martin and wife, Lauren; Lance Martin; Cody Melendez and partner, Tyrah.
The joy of Elizabeth's life extended to her great-grandchildren: Christopher M. Hurley and wife, Krystal; Courtney Cunningham and husband, Timmy; Austin Hurley and wife, Kaleigh; Diedre Hurley and fiancé, Dakota; Jared Hurley; Catherine Chapman; Lauren Chapman; Kiah King; and A.J. Martin.
She was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren: Dax Cunningham, Katee Cunningham, Kashara Hurley, Brantlee Hurley, Everett Hurley, Lilly Hurley, and Luke Hurley.
Elizabeth also cherished her many nephews and nieces.
Elizabeth found great strength and joy in her faith. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson, where she sang in the Goldenaires Senior Adult choir and was dedicated to studying the Bible attending Precepts and Bible Study Fellowship. Her love for the Lord was unwavering and guided her actions throughout her life.
Elizabeth’s professional journey included a 45 year career with the Federal Government starting in Recruiting and she retired as a Program Manager for the Office of Hearings and Appeals of the Social Security Administration.
Private family graveside services will be held at Restland Cemetery, where Elizabeth will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband. A memorial service for family and close friends to celebrate Elizabeth's life will follow at the Wildwood Chapel in Restland Cemetery on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
