Elizabeth Ann Masterson's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Masterson passed away on October 24, 2023, after a long illness. She was born March 10, 1937, in Bailey County near Muleshoe, TX. She graduated from Muleshoe High School and was valedictorian of her class. She attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton on a full scholarship and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1959.
After graduation, she moved to Dallas and started her career at the Federal Reserve Bank. In 1961, she married Charles Barclay Masterson and moved to Tehran, Iran where they lived until 1970. While living in Tehran, she worked for the Corp of Engineers and was responsible for the security of top-secret documents. She gave birth to two sons: Raymond Barclay in 1963 and Kenneth James in 1965. She formed many friendships and long-lasting relationships during her time in Iran.
In 1970, the family returned to Texas and settled in North Dallas. She became involved in many local groups including PTA, Cub Scouts, and several youth sports organizations including the Dallas North Soccer Association. She also served as President of the CPA Wives Club of Dallas. During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s she worked in convention services for the Grand Kempinski Hotel in Addison.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church Richardson from 1970 until her passing. Elizabeth lived a life of love and faith and will be missed by all. The family would like to give special thanks to the care givers at The Reserve at North Dallas, Presbyterian Village North and Faith Presbyterian Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Farley; brother John P Farley and wife Eleanor; sister Mary Francis Brasher and husband Curtis; sister-in-law Patricia Reese; niece Stephanie Pardue; and nephews John Alfred Farley and Jeffrey Reese.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Masterson; son Ray Masterson and his wife Rhonda and their two children Reilly and Trent; son Ken Masterson and his wife Dawn and their two children Reed and Will; nieces Mary Ann Dennison and Kathleen Sutherland; nephews Jim Farley and Chris Reese.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday November 2, 2023, at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church Richardson.
