Elizabeth "Jackie" Mims King's Obituary
Elizabeth “Jackie” Mims King, beloved mother and grandmother, passed from this world into Heaven on January 17, 2015 at the age of 101 years of age. She was a long time resident of Dallas, Texas born on May 23, 1913. Elizabeth was preceded in death by the love of her life her husband, Emory E. King. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Ann Cherry of Dallas and Janet Denham of Arlington. Adoring grandchildren: Cynthia Malnar Jones and Kenneth, Mesquite; Judy Jacobs and Jerry, Dallas; Thomas Cherry Jr and Tammy, Midlothian; Gayla Moores and Bob, Fort Worth; Jennifer Gilbert and Jody, Benbrook. Great-grandchildren: Justin Malnar and Meredith, College Station; Cody Malnar, Forney; Clayton and Matthew Cherry, Midlothian; Haley, Morgan, and Emily Gilbert, Benbrook and Tyler Moores, Fort Worth. Great-great children; Kyndra Malnar, Garland and Jackson and Andrew Malnar, College Station. Elizabeth is survived by : sister, Kathryn Hatcher, Sherman; brother, Edward and Sandi Mims, Florida and sister-in-law Evelyn Mims, Jefferson. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who knew and loved her. Her dad, William B. Mims, nicknamed her “Jackie” because she was a bit of a tomboy and that name stuck with many knowing her by that name. Jackie was an LVN at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. She and husband Emory owned King Sand and Gravel in Hutchins for many years. Jackie was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder at Trinity Presbyterian in Dallas. After retirement Elizabeth and Emory moved to Jefferson, Texas to enjoy the small town life, adventures with grand children and great-grandchildren. On Sundays you could find them at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Jefferson. We celebrate her life and the love she shared with not only her family but everyone she met. The visitation for Jackie will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. The service for Jackie will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 3:00pm at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
