Elizabeth Stafford's Obituary
(Elizabeth) Betty Stafford of Garland, TX passed away on December 7, 2022.
Betty was born on December 13, 1933 to Cecil and Talitha Coburn, in Wilson, Arkansas where she graduated from Wilson High School. She married Wayne Stafford August 11, 1957. They lived several places while Wayne was in the military including Texas, Germany and Arkansas before finally settling in Garland, Texas in 1977.
Betty and Wayne had 3 children, Jay, Jennifer and David. Betty worked for Southwestern Bell, Baptist Memorial Hospital and Chase Bank (formally Colonial National and First City Bank of Garland). She was the family caretaker and lived her life taking of others. Everyone around her benefited from her kindness and love.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Stafford her son, Jay Stafford, her sisters Ludien Stephens and Catherine Pannell, and brothers, Cecil, Curtis, Marion and John Coburn. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Burkhart (husband Kendall Burkhart), son David Stafford (wife Kim Stafford), daughter-in-law Jill Stafford and brother Willis Coburn.
Grandma Betty will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Coleman Stafford (wife Brittany), Brandon Stafford (wife Lauren), Brittany Stafford, Kyle Stafford (wife Emily), Alyssa Burkhart, Jacob Burkhart and great grandchildren, Skylar, Harrison, and Annalia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Betty Stafford to the Jay Stafford Memorial Fund through the Foundation for Allen Schools. This fund provides resources for students and teachers at Ereckson Middle School in Allen ISD. Betty was a supporter of education and was so proud Jay served as assistant principal at Ereckson.
