Elizabeth Botello Tamez Marchetti's Obituary
Elizabeth Botello Tamez Marchetti died Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in her home in Garland Texas. Her husband Dudley Marchetti, her sons Alfredo and Felix Tamez, step-daughter Melinda Down, aunt Mary Cordova and nurse Mary Basham were present as she drifted off to join her father, Felix Botello in heaven.Elizabeth was born September 8, 1955, at the Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas Texas. She was the second child of Felix G. Botello and Virginia Cordova Botello. Most of Elizabeth’s childhood was spent in Dallas Texas. She graduated from W. W. Samuell High School. She then attended the University of Texas at Arlington where she met her first husband, Alfredo Tamez. They were married in 1978. Their first son, Alfredo Tamez was born in 1980. A second son, Felix Tamez was born in 1982. Elizabeth graduated UTA in 1981.Elizabeth, as she was raising her sons, began to work in the Law Office of Callejo and Callejo, founded by her aunt and uncle, William and Adelfa Callejo. Elizabeth began attending SMU. In 1989 she graduated with her law degree and soon passed the Texas State Bar Exam. She applied at the Dallas County House where she was hired by the District Attorney Judge John Vance.Elizabeth, Libby to her family and friends, began as all prosecutors, in the Misdemeanor Section. She spent time in the Felony Section before moving into the Intake Section where she spent the majority of her career. While Elizabeth was in the Intake Section she met a Dallas Police Detective, Dudley Marchetti. They were married in 2006. Libby retired in October 2012 after a twenty-three career as a Deputy Assistant District Attorney.Elizabeth was diagnosed in 2010 with stage four ovarian cancer. Elizabeth in May of 2010 Elizabeth survived a ten-hour surgery followed by an eleven day ICU stay in Presbyterian Hospital. She then endured nineteen infusions of cancer drugs. She returned to work in November of 2010.The cancer returned in 2016 and was removed. The cancer was detected again in 2017 but because of the drugs used to battle the cancer had caused dementia to develop, she was not a candidate for further surgery. Elizabeth died at home after four months of Hospice care.Elizabeth loved her family, photography, and travel. She loved the museums of New York, Halloween in Salem, the islands of Hawaii which she visited ten times in eleven years.Elizabeth is survived by her husband Dudley Marchetti of Garland, her mother Virginia Botello of Mesquite, her sons Alfredo and Felix Tamez of Dallas, her brother Felix Botello of Forney, her brother Victor of Mesquite and her brother Ricardo of Dallas. Her step-daughter Melinda Down of Garland, her step-son Zachary Marchetti of Plano and her step-daughter Amanda Marchetti of Chicago Illinois, two grand-daughters, Scarlett and MacKenzie Down, and her favorite niece Amanda Moncivalles of Forney.Visitation for Ms. Elizabeth Botello Tamez Marchetti will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
