Elizabeth Ann Thruston's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Thruston “Miss Ann” 84, born on May 30, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018, in Dallas with her family by her side.Preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Bailey Bright and Eliza Green Olsen and sister, Laura Bright Crozier.Ann is survived by her husband, Bryan Thruston, and daughter, Lisa Thruston. Ann is also survived by nephews; Kyle Crozier and wife Debbie, Collins Crozier, David Kemp and wife Mauricia. Nieces; Cindy Turner and husband Lowell, Carol Pringle and husband Pat, Kathryn Hogue. Great nephews; Chad Crozier and wife Kate, Nic Crozier, Travis Irby and wife Jen, Aaron Pridgeon and wife Jaime, Ryan Pridgeon and wife Kendall, Cody Kemp, Alex Holliday and wife Lauren. Great nieces; Kyla Kay and husband Andrew, Liza Dora and husband Darryl, Holly Holliday, and many great-great nephews and great-great nieces and extended family.While growing up in the Lakewood area of Dallas, Ann was very athletic playing on the volleyball team, roller skating, tennis tournaments, ice skating at Fair Park and swimming in White Rock Lake. Ann has always enjoyed music and loved to dance the push, the jitterbug, and the twist. Ann graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended college at Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas. Now known as Texas Woman’s University. While in high school she received the nickname “Miss Ann” after a song made popular by “Little Richard” in the 1950’s. Besides White Rock Lake, Ann enjoyed many of the hot spots around town; Keller’s Hamburgers, Campisi’s Egyptian Restaurant, The Town Pump, The Lakewood Theatre and The State Fair of Texas.In 1959 Ann married the love of her life Bryan at Lakewood United Methodist Church and in 1960 had her only child, daughter Lisa. Through the years Ann enjoyed playing tennis, writing poetry, playing the ukulele, mowing and edging the lawn, also working on the lawn sprinkler system and singing along with the player piano in her Cabaret.Ann was a natural detective by nature and was the area Crime Watch chairman in Oak Tree Village where she and Bryan lived for 45 years. With her own police scanner, Ann worked with The Dallas Police Department solving crimes in the neighborhood providing license plate numbers and accurate descriptions putting many cases to rest.Ann had a radiant smile that lit up a room and everyone in it and was a stranger to no one. Her positive outlook on life and her ability to overcome obstacles was an inspiration to everyone.The family wishes to receive guests at 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm both in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery on Monday, April 16, 2018. Reception and light food to follow at the Restland Event Center located across the street from the main funeral home. Pallbearers; Kyle Crozier, Collins Crozier, Pat Pringle, David Kemp, Darren Martin, and Bob Curtis. Honorary Pallbearers; Jerry Stewart, Lowell Turner, Weldon Wells and Frank Ramsey.The family of Ann would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, CNAs, staff, and administration at C.C. Young Healthcare Living Facility for all the kindness you showed and the excellent care you provided to Ann over the last 2 years where she has called C.C. Young her home. Ann enjoyed all the activities provided including music, art, visiting with Lilly the dog and Bingo to name a few. She enjoyed engaging with the many residents, staff, volunteers and visitors. Thank you, C.C. Young, for making Ann’s stay in a long-term care facility a pleasure for Ann and her family.Bryan and Lisa would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital for their dedication to caring in Ann’s final days. We would also like to thank Seasons Hospice for providing peace and comfort to Ann and her family during her final hours.A special thank you to Chrystal Snow- Martin for her friendship and help with the details for Miss Ann’s funeral.
