Elizabeth Joanne (Nichols) Welnack
May 18, 1943 - August 19, 2024
Joanne Welnack, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Dallas, Texas, on May 18, 1943, she was the eldest daughter to Elizabeth Jane Selman and Floyd Nichols.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Tammy (Buddy) Silvers; her son Todd (Marisa) Duncan; and her stepson Lee (Neely) Duncan. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Megan Rodriguez, Brooke Duncan, and Luke Duncan; her great-grandchildren, Matthew Moore Jr., Jaxon Moore, Aubrey Rodriguez, and Autumn Rodriguez. Joanne is also survived by her sister Peggy (Mike) Crow, and her brother Paul (Diane) Nichols. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Welnack; her son, Joey Hawkins; her brothers, Gary Nichols and Tommy Nichols; and her sisters, Wanda Lewis and Kathy Hansen.
A devout Christian and a dedicated member of the Baptist faith, Joanne's life was a reflection of her deep spiritual beliefs. Her faith provided comfort and guidance, and she was known for her generosity, always ready to help those in need.
Joanne had a passion for travel and was always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories. She was an avid fan of sprint car racing, a sport she enjoyed cheering Ray on to many victories.
Among her many talents, Joanne was a remarkable cook, especially known for her banana pudding - a dessert that became a staple at family gatherings and brought smiles to many faces.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Randy and Susan Welnack for their care and devotion to Joanne since Ray’s passing in 2015. Joanne never stopped loving your Uncle Ray, thank you for watching over and treating her like family.

Joanne Welnack’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and the joy of simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation: Friday, August 30th, from 6-8 pm
Celebration of Life and Funeral Ceremony: Saturday, August 31st, at 2 pm
