Elizabeth B. Wilson's Obituary
WILSON, ELIZABETH a woman of grace and courage, went home to her Lord September 5, 2012. She was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on September 9, 1916 and soon moved to Dallas where she graduated from North Dallas High School with honors. She married Fred Fouts in 1939 and was widowed in 1943 when he was shot down over in Italy. She married James A. Wilson in 1945 who preceded her in death 64 years later. They had three children, Gail Heinonen and her husband, Bob of Dallas, The Rev. Fr. Scott Wilson and his wife, Lana of Weatherford, TX, and Julie Walker and her husband, Breck of Nashville, TN. She is survived by grandchildren, Eric Heinonen, Elisa Heinonen, John Wilson (Jennifer), Mary Wilson Cobb (Jonathon), Cord Walker, Zach Walker, Rob Swift, and Steven Swift (Kerryn), and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Adolph Beneke and his wife, Lenora of Garland. Lib loved her many friends and loved to entertain them with parties or sit with them in hospital waiting rooms to offer comfort. She was a charter member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church, and with her husband Jim enjoyed many years at the Northwood Club, West Lakes Hunting and Fishing Club, the Dallas Petroleum Club, Coterie Dance Club, and the Garden of the Gods Club. Together she and Jim travelled the world. She loved her Fool’s Friday Lunch Group, her card group, and her “sewing” club. She thought nothing of cooking for 15 family members for a three day weekend and loading it all in the car to take to the lake. Her grandchildren adored her and loved to play cards with her. She always had great stories to tell. When she began to have health problems nine years ago, she met each of her 12 surgeries with courage, never complaining, and always recovering in her own way and her own time. We called her the energizer bunny. She was such an example to us all. She was beautiful until the day she died with hair and nails perfectly done, her hair still dark and thick and her face unlined. She was cared for and loved by her devoted caregiver Teresia Njoroge who will sing at her service the song they sang together every morning. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 10 in the chapel at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, 4124 Oak Lawn, Dallas TX 75219 at 1:30 pm with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Park Cities Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
