Elizabeth Ann Wuermser's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Wuermser passed away on May 21, 2022, at the age of 89. A Maryland native and long-time Richardson, Texas resident, Elizabeth Ann was beloved by many. Born on October 13, 1932, in Baltimore to Thomas Franklin Pierce and Elizabeth Basta Pierce, she was the older sister of Dolores Pierce Mayhew.
A devoted Catholic, Elizabeth Ann attended Elizabeth Seton High School in Baltimore, where she served as the school photographer and excelled academically. At just 4 feet, 8 inches tall, one might be surprised to learn she played high school basketball; within her small stature also lived a Peabody Conservatory trained operatic voice.
At only four years old, Elizabeth Ann met the “love of her life”, Edward Wuermser, her Eddie. They married on July 31, 1954, and lived in Greenbelt, Maryland where they had three daughters. When they moved to Texas in 1968, Elizabeth Ann maintained long distance relationships with family and life-long friends and was always just a phone call away.
Elizabeth Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and Ed worked side by side for 30 years, running their manufacturers rep business. She wrote long newsy letters, maintained the family genealogy, and was always available to help family or friend. She would drop everything to babysit her grandchildren. She was small but mighty and sat on phone books to see over the steering wheel to drive. All eight grandchildren took immense joy in surpassing her as their first height milestone – marking their height on her office door on every visit. Elizabeth Ann prioritized education and ensured her grandchildren went to college. Every holiday was celebrated; family was everything.
Elizabeth Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Betty, her sister, Dolores, her great-grandson, Hudson Schlieve, and the love of her life, Eddie. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Ann and Mike McKinley, Theresa and Mark Dickson, and Lisa Ann Wuermser and Keith Thuemmel, along with grandchildren, Katie (McKinley) and Max Schlieve, Michael and Jackie McKinley, Patrick and Ashleyanne McKinley, Catherine (Dickson) and Scott Riggle, Matthew Dickson, Rebekah Dickson, Thomas Dickson, and Christopher Priebe, as well as her 5 great-grandchildren, Hadley, Hannah, and Harrison Schlieve, Emilia Riggle, and Pierson McKinley. A large extended family mourns her loss as well.
A Funeral Service will be held on May 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX followed by a graveside service. A reception will follow at The Tower at Park Lane North. Please wear Elizabeth Ann’s favorite color, blue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Juliette Fowler Communities: www.fowlercommunities.org - designated for the I'm Still Here memory care program or The One Wing Foundation Fund at Southwestern Medical Foundation: www.swmedical.org - to support the mental health needs of bereaved parents of pregnancy and infant loss.
