Ella Joe Ausley's Obituary
Ella J. Ausley was born in Dallas, Texas on April 26, 1931, to the late Archie A. and Katie B. Sparks. She died on March 15, 2021, in Mesquite, Texas. Ella was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She married John Ausley in 1952, and they were married 65 years before his death in 2017. After John’s death, Ella moved to The Waterford in Mesquite, an independent living community, where she soon made friends and was loved by the staff. Soon after moving there, she considered it “home.” Ella loved God and family above all else and was always eager to spend time with grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Oates Drive Baptist Church in Mesquite where she taught third-grade Sunday School for several years and later served as a volunteer in the nursery, rocking and caring for babies. She had a passion for playing board games, and her daughters and grandchildren were entertained by her competitive spirit! Christmas Eve was the favorite night of the year for the family to gather, with the family always looking forward to her tasty fruit salad and famous candy bar cookies. She is survived by three daughters, Gloria (Jim) Ratley of Georgetown, TX; Linda (Charlie) Pimentel of Mesquite, TX; and Dianne (Scott) Blair of Cedar Hill, TX; as well as eight grandchildren, Matthew (Edelia) Rhoades; Nikki (James) Brezik; Julie (Brian) Brzozowski; Jennifer Cook; Jeff Blair; Benjamin Pimentel (Michelle); Leslie Simpson; Sarah Geter; thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as one sister, Betty Peacock of Waxahachie, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Restland Entrance Garden with visitation in the main building one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund at Oates Drive Baptist Church, 2805 Oates Drive, Mesquite, TX 75150.
