Ella Montez Walkowicz's Obituary
Ella Montez Walkowicz, of Royse City, Texas passed away peacefully alongside family on Friday, February 27, 2015 at her daughter’s and son’s-in-law home in Royse City, Texas. Montez was born in Akron, Alabama to Jessie and Effie Hughey and lived most of her life in Garland, Texas. Montez was a beautiful, loving and generous wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She was a homemaker who truly loved being with her family and friends. Her talents included excelling at her favorite hobby, bridge along with gardening, sewing and being a fabulous cook and baker. She was a long standing member of the Sequence Club of Garland and Eastern Hills Country Club Ladies Auxiliary. Montez was always known by her friends as the best joke teller. She and her husband were members of First United Methodist Church in Garland, Texas. Montez was united in marriage to Edward in 1945. They had 67 amazing and blissful years together. Edward preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Rex Hughey; son, Eddie Walkowicz and daughter-in-law, Liz Walkowicz; daughter, Sandy Pohlmann and son-in-law, Gene Pohlmann; grandson, Alan Walkowicz and granddaughter, Amy Schaefer. God will be thrilled with the arrival of his wonderful, new angel, Montez. The funeral service for Montez will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2015 in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. A reception honoring Montez will be held after the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Parkinson Foundation.
