Elma Eaton Asel's Obituary
Passed away on October 26, 2008 and went home to be with the Lord. Mrs. Asel was born October 20, 1909 to Dr. Leslie Eugene Eaton and Ethel Irene Bowen Eaton in Sturgis, SD. Her family moved to Kansas City, MO when she was 10. It was as a young woman in Kansas City that she met and married Charles Herbert Asel on December 24, 1930. Mrs. Asel is survived by her children: Adele Asel and her husband, Calvin Axtell; Herb Asel, Jr. and his wife, Shirley Asel; and Susie Asel Low; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren (and 1 on the way); 1 great, great granddaughter; her sister, Mrs. LaVila Moyer; and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years. Together they co-founded and built Asel Art Supply in Dallas, she serving as the company’s bookkeeper. Mrs. Asel joined Park Cities Baptist Church April 25, 1943, having accepted the Lord and being baptized as a young girl. At Park Cities she served as the Preschool Building Secretary for many years; as President and Outreach Leader of the Naomi Class for many years and as choir mother for the Junior High Girls Choir. Every Monday morning, Mrs. Asel would call the church for a list of those who were sick or who were having birthdays – all of them received cards in the mail and meals if needed. She was an avid gardener. Her joy was being very active with her children’s and grandchildren’s events, missing very few of them. You are loved! In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite Christian charity.
