Elmer A. Allen III's Obituary
ALLEN, III, ELMER A. E. A. Buz Allen died Sunday Night March 10th at his home in Plano, Texas. He was 77 years old. Buz was born September 27th in 1935. He was the first of five children born into the family of Elmer and Ethel Allen. His given name was Elmer Albert Allen III, but everyone in the immediate family called him “Bucky.” He was extremely intelligent, very handsome and he excelled in sports and mathematics. Later, at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, his friends began calling him “Buz.” Buz’s first marriage to Bevelyn Rozanne Watson, or Bitsy, as she is known to family and friends, produced five sons; Robert Mark, Bryan David, Bradley Watson, Stanley Blair and Brent Frederick. Save Bryan, all of his sons would work with him in his later career. Buz’s second marriage to Patricia Jo Edwards lasted 32 years until his death. She was with him through many difficult years as well as later successes. She was his great love, strength and inspiration. Aside from his sense of humor, natural inquisitiveness and great intelligence, Buz was extremely creative. Like his father, he was very good with his hands and was adept at woodworking, wiring and welding, among many other skills. He put these skills and talent to good use. Most of his family and friends have something beautifully crafted and personal, created specially for them by Buz. In 1987, Buz and his first son Robert Mark, or Bobby, started StoneEagle, an insurance system and data processing company. With the support and hard work of Patty, brothers Brad, Blair, Brent, stepson Jeff, and many talented and dedicated associates, they grew StoneEagle into a powerful company which services clients around the globe. This success gave Buz the opportunity to travel with Patty and friends, the WOOF pack, and spend time with his grandchildren. He was a man of sharp wit, kindness and a great generosity of spirit. Buz is survived by his wife Patty, four siblings, five sons, one stepson and ten grandchildren. He will be remembered with gentle laughter, respect and love. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday March 16, First Christian Church of Plano, 813 E 15th St., Plano, TX 75074, followed by a Celebration gathering, StoneEagle Building, 111 West Spring Valley Rd., Richardson, TX. 75081.
