Elodia Oropeza Reyna's Obituary
Elodia Oropeza Reyna “Mema”, passed away peacefully at her home on August 26, 2014 and is being welcomed by her husband, Joaquin (2005) of 53 years and her youngest son, Damian (2013). She was born in Galveston, Texas, the youngest child to Cecilio and Juanita Oropeza on October 22, 1927. She devoted her life to her family, friends, church and community. Growing up she was on the drill team and played the violin. Throughout her life, she was a den mother, room mother, played softball, a seamstress, childcare worker, hospital volunteer for 40 years and held offices in the VFW. She loved reading her newspaper with coffee, Mexican music, watching Ellen, Ranger’s baseball games, awards shows, feeding the birds in her backyard, and cooking. She is survived by her sister, Lupe O. Fraga; daughter, Cynthia; sons, Tim (Debbie), Chris and Joaquin Jr.; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all of her doctors, nurses and staff who took part in her care for their love and concern. Visitation with Rosary will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, August 29 in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday, August 30 at 12:30 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, followed by interment in Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
