Elsa Gertrude Holloway's Obituary
HOLLOWAY, ELSA GERTRUDE Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, valued employee, skilled gardener, excellent cook, strong Christian, hardworking and frugal, honorable and kind lady. Elsa was born on March 16, 1907 in Lewisville, TX, daughter of Herman and Anna Uecker. The Ueckers were some of the first German settlers in Lewisville. Their parents landed in Galveston and went to the community of Round Grove to farm. The Uecker family donated the land on which the present day Historic Round Grove United Church, U.C.C. still stands. Elsa attended Lewisville High School and graduated in 1925. She then attended Byrnes Commercial College. Elsa was a valued bookkeeper at Rogers Electric for over 20 years. Elsa married W.H. ‘Hubbard’ Holloway of Savannah, Georgia and they had one daughter, Joan. Elsa and Hubbard enjoyed a happy marriage and were very involved in their church, St. Johns United Methodist. Elsa joined Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in 2007. Elsa is preceded in death by her husband, W.H. ‘Hubbard’ Holloway, her beloved daughter, Joan Glass, and her granddaughter, Regina Lynn Glass.
