Else H. McCarty's Obituary
Else Herz McCarty,86, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at her home after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born March 22, 1931, in Wiesbaden, Germany to Karl and Maria Kline Herz. In 1952, she married William (Bill) McCarty from Arkansas. They returned to the States and lived many places while Bill served in the military. They later settled in Garland, Texas when Bill took a job with Texas Instruments. He died suddenly at 47 years of age leaving behind his wife and daughter, Daisy.Else worked for many years, to the delight of the staff and children, in the Garland School system in the cafeteria. She was always baking homemade goodies for them all !! She enjoyed her many pets, playing cards with her friends and loved her weekly outing to the casino. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her daughter Daisy, her parents, her two brothers Karl and Heinz and two sisters Honneroe Herz and Anneliese Herz Davis. She is survived by two sisters, Lisesulotte Roth and Erma Dieges both of Germany; her “unofficial but a cherished son” William Workley of Garland, Texas and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at Wildwood Chapel in Restland Cemetery on Sunday morning, December 3, 2017, at 10 am. The family requests that any memorials be made to American Cancer Society. Restland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
