Elsie Lenore Moore's Obituary
MOORE, ELSIE, born June 30, 1912 in Delta County, Texas died in Dallas, Texas on September 9, 2007, at age ninety-five. She was youngest of ten children of James Robert and Eufrasia Tolbert Moore. Elsie grew up on a farm near Cooper, Texas, but moved to Paris, Texas in 1926 when her father died. Trained as a nurse, she was working at Baylor Hospital in Dallas at the start of World War II. Along with a number of other doctors and nurses at Baylor, she joined the army and was assigned to the 56th Evac. Hospital Unit, which saw active duty in North Africa, Sicily, and Anzio, Italy. After the war, Elsie worked as a nurse in Paris and Bonham, Texas. After her retirement, she devoted herself to her family and her gardening. Although she had no children of her own, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed. Her survivors are Celia Quesenberry, Karen and Mike Flanagan, Brian, Marsha, Brecklyn, and Bevan Flanagan, Brad Flanagan, Blake Flanagan, Ken Quesenberry, Kevin, Vicki, Austin, and Alyce Quesenberry, Jim, Olivia, Will, and Jesse Renneker, Robert, Ann, Catherine, Lesley, and Meredith Renneker, Douthea Shaner, Russell, Michelle, Benjamin, and Elizabeth Shaner. Graveside services will be on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Paris, Texas.
