Elta "Katie" Kay Gilbert Dalhem's Obituary
Katie Gilbert-Dalhem, was born in Jacksonville, IL, Oct. 6, 1944. She graduated from University of Southern Illinois with a degree in Biology. She passed suddenly August 31, in Brooklyn, NY, where she and her husband, Richard Dalhem, were preparing their yacht to sail to Belize. She was preceded in death by former husband, Al Gilbert; mother, Elta, father, Edgar, and sister, Betty Gotschall. Katie was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Richard Dalhem; her beloved daughters, Alexis and Nicki Gilbert , Dallas; sister, Donna Wendorff and brother Bill Korseymeyer, Springfield, IL; stepsons Hunter and Tom Gilbert, and stepdaughter Sandy Safley, Raleigh, North Carolina; and Richard’s family, Richard II, Houston, TX; Michael, Tampa, FL; and Diane Dennison, Cobb,Wisconsin; and many grandchildren as well as her dear friend, JayJ (Aunt Jackie). After retirement from EDS, Katie spent most of her time in preparation for their new life in Belize, and just relaxing with dear friends at Bayview Marina, Lake Ray Hubbard. A memorial service to celebrate Katie’s life will be held Saturday, September 12th, 12:30 PM, at Restland Memorial Chapel. Family visitations are extended following the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Thomson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to “Alexis Gilbert Memorial Account for Katie Gilbert” @ Bank of America.
