Elva Ann Graeber's Obituary
Elva (Ann) Graeber was born on August 6, 1930, in emporia Kansas and passed away December 18th in Dallas, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 21st, 2016, at Restland Memorial Chapel. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Roxanna Kendig of Emporia, Kansas, her brother Harold Kendig, of Westport CT. and her beloved husband Charles Graeber of Dallas Texas. She is survived by her three children, David his wife Susan, Chris and his wife Robyn, and Kathy and her spouse Pam, five grandchildren Elizabeth and her husband Donnie and, Ashley, Annie and her husband Bryan, John and Don. She had three great grandchildren Audrey, Morgan, and Conor. Her family knew her as Gran. She grew up on a farm in Emporia Kansas and moved to Dallas to attend SMU where she met the love of her life Charles Graeber. They married and moved to Venezuela Where all three of her children were born. She had a love of life and collected many lifelong friends along the way who are still her friends over 50 years to today. She loved to travel and usually preferred to take the roads less traveled. There were many trips with an assortment of her children and grandchildren from backpacking in Arkansas, villa in Tuscany, Italy or the Galapagos islands. She was a giving and a passionate person who volunteered for many causes. She work tirelessly with several charities and philanthropic organizations to make people’s lives better. Later in life she received her Masters Degree and her teaching certification and was an elementary school teacher for the DISD requesting to teach at a school in a disadvantaged part of Dallas where she could use her bilingual skills. She made a such difference in so many people’s lives and will be missed by her family and her many close friends. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
