Elwana Wanda Oleta Slaughter's Obituary
SLAUGHTER, ELWANA WANDA OLETA born January 10, 1922 and named Elwana Graves, Called Wandie by family, then Wanda, but the name that she loved was Mrs. Bill W. Slaughter, the name she took May 21, 1941. She and Bill had a loving marriage until his death in 2001 and had a loving family consisting of two sons, W. Randall Slaughter and wife Suzonne of Glendale, CA and Rick G. Slaughter and wife Cathie of Canton, TX. She is survived by four grandchildren, Brian Slaughter and wife Lucia of Round Rock, TX; David Slaughter and wife Jennifer of Hutto, TX; Amanda Reed and husband Charles of Sherman Oaks and Dawn Michelle Slaughter, deceased, and five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Renee, Tyler, Dylan and Oliver. Their early life together after Bill’s service in the Navy, during WW II and Wanda working as a legal secretary was spent having family and devoting time to their church and to their Charity, The Variety Club Children’s Charity, Bill as President and Wanda planning fund raising events. They enjoyed entertaining their many friends and enjoyed Bridge and traveling. In fact after Bill retired from United Artist Theatres they took many cruises and automobile trips. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 848 Harter Rd., Dallas, TX 75218, December 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The family would be pleased if in lieu of flowers a donation in her name be made to the Variety Club of Dallas, St. John’s Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice. Interment will be private for the family. The family would be happy to meet with friends in the Parish Hall after the Memorial Service.
