She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio Hernandez; sisters, Gloria Reyes, Idalia Reyes, and Alice Rangel; her parents, Roque Escamilla, and Sofia; and brother, Jake Escamilla. She is survived by sons, John Hernandez and wife Lucy, Gene Hernandez and wife Rebecca, and Gary Hernandez and wife Michelle; daughter, Jo Ann Arrington and husband Charles; grandchildren: Amanda and husband Kyle, Jason, Justin, Jared, Jonathan, Jordan, Brooke, James, and Alisa; great-grandchild, Ashton; and sisters, Ada Martinez, and Joann Gonzales. Elyner was a LVN and a volunteer substitute teacher. She was also a member of the Catholic Church.
