Embree Charles Bedsole
Charles was born January 27, 1938 to the late Annie Ruth and Embree “Cotton” Bedsole of Abbeville, Alabama. He passed away November 15, 2022. He lived 84 blessed years and is now home with His Father in Heaven.
He graduated from Abbeville High School (located in Abbeville, AL) in 1955. After high school he moved from Alabama to Texas where he attended college at Southern Methodist University. Charles went on to receive both his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1959 and his Master of Theology in 1963 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. From there he went on to receive his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1966 from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. As an early highlight of his distinguished legal career Charles served as the Assistant Attorney General of Texas 1967-1970. He continued to practice law in Dallas until he retired in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Rosaida (Rosy) Bedsole of Dallas, son Embree Charles Bedsole II, his wife Tracy, their children Bobby Bedsole, his wife Crystal and their son Brooks Benjamin; Ashley Rabb and her spouse Carson and their children Paul Charles and Charlotte Mary. His youngest son Joseph Michael Bedsole and his husband Jeff Sikes. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Theresa Brittain and her husband Michael and their children Micah, Madison, Bailey, Cassidy and Cole. His stepson Anthony Garcia and his wife Brooke and their daughter Kennedy; Stepson Darren Stover and his wife Megan.
Charles was predeceased by his parents and his brother Ken Bedsole.
A private memorial service to celebrate Charles’ life will be held at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 South Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
