Emilie "Judy" Judith Taber's Obituary
Emilie Judith Taber (Judy), 81, of Garland, Texas, was born on March 15th, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana to her parents, Alton and Odessa Barre Woods. She died in her home on August 3rd, 2021. She married Eugene Taber, Sr. on August 20th, 1960.
Judy is preceded in death and met in heaven by her parents, Alton and Odessa, as well as by three of her five siblings, Carol Niehaus, Jackie Lyon, and Kathleen Woods. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Taber, Sr.; brother, James Woods; sister, Shirley Woods; her three children, Eugene Taber II, Anne Gove and husband Steve, and Rachel Stanton and husband John; her nine grandchildren, Eugene Taber III and wife Mary, Carolanne Gove, Noelle McCormick and husband James, Siobhan Gove, Jessica Taber, Tommy Gove, Zachary Stanton, Tristan Stanton, and Levi Stanton; and her great-grandson, Cade McCormick.
Judy was a loving mom, grandma, and GG who loved to keep up with and discuss politics, spend time chatting and gossiping with her family, cook and bake low-carb recipes, beat everyone at Words with Friends/scrabble, and she made the best homemade birthday cards. She had a fierce belief in social justice and equal rights for all that will undoubtedly be passed down to future generations. Judy loved to read and educate herself, including on positive parenting perspectives and values which her children, grandchildren and great-grandson will forever benefit from and continue to uphold. She volunteered at the Garland Community Outreach teaching parenting classes in an effort to prevent child abuse and neglect. She had strong New Orleans roots, made delicious gumbo, loved blue floral prints, sang the best nursery rhymes, loved sweet treats, and most of all, loved and was loved by her family so, so dearly. She will be missed so much, never forgotten, and will always be with her family through her love and legacy.
Judy’s family has opted not to hold a formal ceremony, but will grieve together and celebrate her life as a family.
