Emma Earlyne Chesser's Obituary
Emma Earlyne Freeman Chesser, known to most people as Earlyne, was born on June 16, 1931 in St Paul Hospital in Dallas Texas. Her mother, Anna Robinson Freeman, was part of a large family that lived in Dallas from the late 1800’s. Her father, Earl Freeman, was originally from Kansas and came to Texas to work in the oil fields in the early 1900’s and later settled in Dallas. Earlyne graduated from W H Adamson High School in June 1948 and from North Texas State University, now University of North Texas, in 1952.She married Arthur J. Chesser in 1951 and traveled with him throughout his career in the Air Force. Early in her career, she was employed by the City of Dallas in its Civil Service or HR department. She worked for the Air Force in Abilene Texas and taught eighth grade English at Rider HS in Wichita Falls TX when it opened. She also taught at elementary schools in Denison TX and Tawas City MI among others. When Art retired from the Air Force in July 1970, Earlyne resumed her career with the City of Dallas until she retired in 1991.Earlyne was always very supportive of her children and was active as a den mother in cub scouts at various locations. Having an eighth-grade teacher in the family was a constant guide of the importance of education to her children.Earlyne is survived by Charles Calvin Chesser and his spouse Karen of Houston TX, James Earl Chesser, Judy Ellen Chesser Coffman and her spouse Jerry, all of Woodbridge VA. Grandchildren are Cameron Cayce Chesser, Heather Marie Coffman, and Jennifer Lynn Coffman.Earlyne was a long-time member of St. Marks Presbyterian Church, as well as Roy Stanley Masonic Lodge in Dallas. Earlyne was an active member in Eastern Star and Social Order of the BeauceantA Graveside Service for Ms. Emma Earlyne Chesser will commence on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 am in Restland Cemetery.Funeral arrangements for Ms. Emma Earlyne Chesser have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
