Emma Sue Johnson's Obituary
JOHNSON, EMMA SUE DEPWE born in Orange, TX on October 4, 1929, passed away on October 5, 2013. She has joined her beloved husband Roy in the celestial choir. Sue was a musical child prodigy who played the piano and organ with verve and precision. She and Roy, the love of her life, were a musical team from 1947 onward, in schools, church music, and musical theater. Sue was a gifted and inspiring music teacher in the D.I.S.D. (Preston Hollow Elementary) for over 40 years. She served as an astute accompanist and enjoyed concertizing as well. Sue graduated from Baylor University and was chosen for the musical honor society there. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Drucilla (Linscomb) Depwe, Roy, her brothers Harvey, Jesse and Raymond, and sister Ruby. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Johnson) Parks, her grandsons Basho Roy Parks and Yeshe Joseph Parks, a sister-in-law Mayda Depwe and many nieces and nephews. She was delighted to be a member of the D.A.R. where she and Roy summered at their cottage in Central Maine. She and Roy were loyal and generous supporters of the arts in Dallas and in Maine. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to HPUMC music program, 3300 Mockingbird Ln., Dallas, TX 75205 or the charity of your choice.
