Emma Katherine Lovett's Obituary
Emma Katherine Lovett, beloved sister and aunt, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the age of 88. Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas, Rev. Joe Rightmyer officiating. Katherine was born in Texarkana, TX, July 11, 1923 to James Llewelyn and Katherine Ada (Perdue) Lovett. Her family moved to Tyler, Tx in 1941 where she graduated from Tyler High School. She graduated from NTSU, majoring in music. She was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, violin, organ and harp. Katherine was a member of the international music fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota, which she joined in college and remained active for over 60 years. Katherine loved music and was a vocalist in the Highland Park Presbyterian Church choir for many years. She retired from Sun Oil Company in 1989, where she worked as an Executive Secretary for over 36 years. In addition to her love of music, she also enjoyed traveling. Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, James Llewelyn and Katherine Ada (Perdue) Lovett, her beloved sister Durelle Leigh Lovett (Rockwell), half sisters Virginia Ruth Booker and Juanita Louise Larsen and cousin Eugenia Ahart. She is survived by sisters Margery Elizabeth, Dallas and Feriba Francille Porter & husband Phil, Arlington. Nieces Katherine Rockwell, Judith Foster & husband Thad, Longview, Sylvia Leigh Gaines & husband Kip, Sherman, nephew David Paul Porter & wife Cathy, Arlington, niece Virginia Ann Wilhelm & husband Ron, Little Rock, AR. Great nieces Ashley Conner & husband Jake, with children Boston Ray & Ainsley of Holly Lake Ranch and Brittany Ochoa & husband Chris, with children Abigail & Layden, Waco. Cousins Betty Valachovic & family, Little Rock, AR. and Cecelia Conway, Chapel Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church Music Dept.
