Emma Lena Snowden's Obituary
Emma Lena (Pride) Snowden, was born January 15, 1924 in Huntington, Texas. She passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lena was the oldest of four children. Growing up, her parents instilled a strong sense of charity to never turn someone away hungry. This meant that no stranger ever missed a meal, made from the extensive family farm, when they knocked on the Pride door.In 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Mason Snowden, and they were married for 73 years. They traveled around the world with their two children, Kay and George, before finally finding home in Mesquite. An active member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation, she led a life of love and service. In later years, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and doting on her 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Our Meme’s Sunday night dinners and cooking lessons will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband, Mason and her son, George and wife Marcia, sister Lorena Platt and her husband Kenneth and sister-in-law Audrey Pride; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: Shana Bennett and her husband Brad and daughter Morgan; Stacey Blackshear and her husband Paul and children Madeleine and John David McComb; Becca Compton and her husband Brad and children Austin and Cooper; Amanda Snowden and her husband Marcos Lopez and their children Lucas and Sofia; Alex Snowden and his fiancée Nancy Schwartz; Allison Snowden.
