Emma Lou Steel's Obituary
Emma Lou Leitner Steel, 97, graduated to her Heavenly home on October 17, 2022. She was born on Dec 21,1924, in Spearman, Texas, to Lela Scott Leitner and Robert E Leitner Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as the love of her life Willian R. Steel, whom she was married to for seventy-four years. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Inez Smart (Ben), Verna Seibert (Clyde), and Robert Leitner, Jr. (Jeanne) as well as her step granddaughter Angela Grinaldi and son-in-law, Darrell Elliott, Sr.
Emma Lou is survived by daughter Janet Elliott, daughter Jeanne Grinaldi (John), grandchildren Darrell Elliott Jr. (Betsy), Kristina Williams (Dustin), Amanda Fergusson (Derek), Chet Grinaldi (Whitney), step grandson Chris Raymond (Lesli) her great-grandchildren Sarah Elliott, Emma Williams, Isabella Williams, Will Elliott, Liam Fergusson, Zuri Grinaldi, Kellan Fergusson and John Levi Grinaldi. Step grandchildren Noah Raymond and Ava Raymond.
Emma Lou graduated salutatorian from Amarillo High School in 1941. She played the French horn in the marching band and went on to earn her Associate degree from Amarillo College. Emma Lou road the train from Amarillo to Tampa, Florida, where she and Bill Steel were married on July 5, 1943, before he was deployed to Guam during World War II. They were married for seventy-four years and had two daughters.
Emma Lou was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and a faithful prayer warrior. She loved people and they loved her. Emma Lou truly lived out her walk with Jesus all of her ninety-seven years.
Emma Lou’s celebration of life will be on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 10:00 am at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX, 75243, in the Wildwood Chapel. If you would like to send flowers Rembrandt Florist is on the Restland premises 972-761-8989.
