Emma Jane Vaughn Ivey's Obituary
Emma Jane passed away Sept. 5, 2014 and was the only child of the late Walter Murrah and Zuleka Roan Vaughn, born October 17, 1923 in Waco, Texas, after which the family moved to Dallas where she lived the rest of her life graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School and attending Hockaday Jr. College and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After working as head bookkeeper at Lakewood Bank, she married Robert W. Ivey in December 1945. Emma Jane was active in The Dallas Woman’s Club serving on the Board of Governors, and served as President of the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Altar Society. Known as “Honey” to all her family, Emma Jane is survived by her husband, Bob, three children: Sally Gardner and husband Jim; Rob Ivey and wife Amy; and Pat Ivey and wife Bea; grandchildren, Kelly Vaughn Gardner, Dr. Jay Gardner and wife Kelly, Robert William Ivey III, Emily Carroll Ivey, Michael John Ivey and wife Tanna, Patrick Charles Ivey and Patrick Murrah Ivey, Jr., and great grandchildren, Jacob Eugene Gardner, Aaron James Gardner and Ivey Mae Gardner, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Emma Jane Ivey will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services for Emma Jane Ivey will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 12, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Memorials can be made to The Arc Caddo-Bossier, 351 Jordan Street, Shreveport, LA 71101; Christ the King Catholic Church, Dallas, or a charity of donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238.
