Mr. Emmett Thomas Jr.'s Obituary
On June 12, 1944 a man larger than life named Emmett Thomas Jr. was born to Emmett Thomas Sr. and Olivia Thomas in Shreveport, Louisiana. He accepted Christ at a young age and begin a life of love and happiness. Emmett arrived in Dallas Texas at the age of 16 and begin to put down roots. He later met his beautiful wife Lula (Gordon) Thomas, who he cherished and loved deeply, and they became members of Griggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in the 70’s. After 10 years of marriage, they both welcomed their lovely daughter Brittany Nicole Thomas.
Emmett, affectionately known as “The Suit Man” was the Men’s Warehouse Top Tier Wardrobe Sales Consultant and impeccably dressed hundreds of men in the DFW metroplex including members of the Dallas Cowboys Professional Football Team and most of Dallas’ ministers. Mr. Thomas believed that a man’s appearance was an essential component of his identity and took pride in not only his own style but helping other men find theirs. On top of styling Dallas, Emmett was a successful business owner. He operated several small businesses in the Dallas area including furniture stores, appliance stores and cleaning businesses, although, his best and most prized professions was being the best Dad, brother, uncle, and friend.
His daughter Brittany would say that her “dad didn’t meet a stranger” that he could not turn into a friend. Emmett was an incredible dad, loving husband, a funny conversationalist, a reliable friend, a family man, a loving brother, and uncle. He consistently empowered his daughter, nieces, and nephews with Godly infinite wisdom and unforgettable advice.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years Lula Thomas, his only child and daughter Brittany Thomas, Son-in-Law (Louis Finner), one Sister Shirley Williams (her husband Herbert Williams), one Brother Leroy Thomas (his wife Nancy Thomas), one Sister in Law Jessie Strugges, God Daughters (Sade Dorton, Portia Starkes, Angelica Rollins) and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, family, friends, and colleagues.
Brittany would like to leave each one of you with her favorite line of wisdom from her dad:
