Erma was born in Cedar Rapids, to George Skillen and Velma White as the middle of 3 children. After her family moved to DFW, Erma attended school in Midlothian then Dallas, where she graduated from Adamson High School. After graduation, Erma went to work for the Annuity Board (Guidestone) of the Southern Baptist Convention and stayed with them until her retirement. During her retirement, Erma vigorously supported her family and churches Hillcrest Baptist then Colonial Hills Baptist then back to Hillcrest. Her fondest memories centered around her dedication to her church activities, such as her church singles group, Golden Fellowship, and the church building trips, where she and Travis would hook up the RV to go and assist with construction of churches around Texas for several weeks every October. The family sincerely thanks the loving caregivers at Brookdale NRH and Heritage House of Keller. Because of Erma’s love for furbabies, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests consideration be given for memorials be provided to, either The Humane Society North Texas (HSNT) or Hillcrest Baptist Church (Cedar Hill, TX)
