Ernest Oscar Bearden's Obituary
BEARDEN, ERNEST OSCAR went to be with the Lord on January 30th at the age of 82. After six years fighting the battle against Alzheimers’, he is now free and experiencing the Heaven that he hoped for his entire life. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 61 years, Geraldine as well as his three children that he adored: daughter, Karen Stapleton and sons, Mark and Andrew. He is also survived by seven grandchildren who were the joy of his later life: Amy, Adam, Winston, Nicholas, Alice, Ruth and Samuel. These ten people are his spiritual legacy. He grew up in Bauxite, Arkansas and is a member of the Bauxite High School Sports Hall of Fame. He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean Conflict including service aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp. Having worked his way through a degree in mechanical engineering from Southern Methodist University, he worked at Frito Lay and then began a tenure with Texas Instruments that lasted 34 years. He was a founding Deacon of Northrich Baptist Church in Richardson and served as a deacon and sunday school leader at Northrich, Richardson Heights Baptist and First Baptist Church of Leonard. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and member of the Kiwanis. He built two homes with his own hands and was an accomplished Taxidermist. He will be missed by all but is an example of a life well lived. “When Christ shall take me home – what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration and there proclaim, “My God, how great thou art!” Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Restland Memorial Chapel with visitation 2 hours prior to the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can me made in Ernest’s honor to the GREATER EAST TEXAS CHAPTER ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION.
